PROJECT MANAGEMENT & CHANGE MANAGEMENT
Project management and change management are often confused. Although they both involve managing people and processes (and often work together to meet organizational goals), they are different disciplines (Lucid, n.d.).
Understanding what those differences are and how both practices can (and should) work together to manage projects and their resulting changes is crucial for the success of your organization.
The term “project management” can at once feel both obvious and vague. While most people intuitively understand what project management is, it’s useful to refer to the official definition.
Project management is described as the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to meet project requirements. In other words, project management is about the process required to bring a team or product from point A to point B.
To do this, project managers and their teams manage processes within five main project stages:
- Initiating
- Planning
- Executing
- Monitoring and Controlling
- Closing
Project management teams focus primarily on fulfilling the strategic objectives of a project. While a team is often made up of stakeholders from various departments and backgrounds, the stakeholders on the team are not always able to address the impact the project may have on stakeholders outside of that “inner circle.”
This uncertainty can lead to anxiety, confusion, and resistance from the people on the ground who may not fully understand the need for the changes or how to adopt and adapt to new processes. Without buy-in from the rest of the organization, a project’s outcomes can be stunted.
Change management is the solution to this sticky problem.
Change managers help the people affected by a project to transition smoothly. They fulfill this goal through three process stages:
- Planning for change
- Managing change
- Reinforcing change

Any change management program must identify possible problem areas, address the requirements of everyone in the organization, and, most importantly, bridge the gap between leadership goals and those affected by change. Listed below are the two examples of real-life successful change management in business:
ReplyDelete1. Netflix.
- Netflix, the massive media-services provider, was founded in 1997. Customers could formerly subscribe to have movies delivered to their door on a monthly basis. As a result, they were able to dodge the late fees that traditional movie rental businesses imposed on their clients. Netflix has always been a disruptive company, which has undoubtedly contributed to its capacity to evolve and adapt to the digital age. The company started streaming in 2007, which meant members didn't have to wait for DVDs to arrive in the mail. Netflix was able to successfully use change management in order to suit the expectations of customers who would start watching content online. It was once at a fork in the road, where its long-term viability hinged on how it handled the transition to a digital future. Subscribers increased from 23 million in 2011 to over 137 million in 2018, despite a dip in subscription numbers and stock prices. As a result, they were able to trust their strategy, knowing that DVDs were on their way out and that they needed to alter gears.

Delete2. Domino’s Pizza
- Domino's Pizza's modifications resulted in the brand surpassing Pizza Hut in sales for the first time. Things were finally looking up in 2010 thanks to shrewd marketing, inventive ordering systems, and cutting-edge technology. According to online statistics, Domino's Pizza was floundering in 2008, when its stock had hit an all-time low. They were still able to get back on its feet in 2012 thanks to a successful change management implementation. Its turnaround was based on the fact that key transformation actors were able to persuade high management to join on board with digital transformation. Through its own operating system, Domino's was able to take advantage of a lot of consumer data. Transaction costs were cut down while also providing information about their clients. Then there's the matter of creating loyalty programs and presenting unique deals to keep sales going up.
Organizational changes are constant nowadays and they've become a key component in adjusting to the marketplace's ever-changing dynamics. Whatever industry you're in, your objectives are the same.

People, processes, and the organization all benefit from change management as a conceptual business framework. Change management boosts the effectiveness of crucial projects and initiatives while also improving the organization's capacity to react swiftly. While business change is inevitable and continual, it has the potential to produce organizational stress as well as unnecessarily and expensive rework if it is not well handled. Change management also contributes to future corporate success by helping the organization to stay dynamic in the market space (Pratt, 2019). Additionally, the process of change management must consider the influence that a modification or replacement will have on the processes, systems, and workers inside the business in order to be successful. Processes for planning and testing change, for communicating change, for scheduling and executing change, for documenting and assessing change, as well as for recording and evaluating the impacts of change must all be in place. Documentation is an essential component of change management, not only to guarantee that an audit trail is maintained if a rollback is required, but also to assure compliance with internal and external controls, including compliance with regulatory requirements.
ReplyDeleteAlthough there are several companies (e.g., Coca-Cola, Domino’s Pizza, etc.) that used change management and improved their operations and processes, I think the best example of a company that used change management and project management and has proven that its processes and operations improved is Netflix. As per the 7 Real-Life Examples of Successful Change Management in Business (n.d.), Netflix, in overview, is the colossal media-services provider that was founded in 1997 in California. The concept had previously given clients the option of signing up for monthly memberships that included having movies delivered to their home. Due to this, they were able to dodge the late penalties that conventional movie rental businesses levied on their clients.

Netflix has shown to be a disruptive organization from the beginning, which has most likely resulted in its capacity to evolve and adapt to the digital environment. Streaming was introduced to the firm in 2007, which meant that members no longer had to wait for DVDs to arrive in the mail. To fulfill the expectations of customers who will begin to view content online, Netflix effectively adopted change management practices in a timely manner. It was at a crossroads at one point, with its long-term viability reliant on how well it handled the transition to a more digital future. Netflix members have increased from 23 million in 2011 to more than 137 million in 2018 after weathering a decline in subscription numbers and stock market performance. As a result, they were confident in their strategy, knowing that DVDs were on their way out and that they needed to change gears.

Change is inevitable, as what others always say, but it does not only apply in life. As long as the people and the technology are changing and progressing, the business should also do its way to adapt to these changes. Without adaptability, the business may face a lot of adjustments which could be devastating to the organization if not accounted for wisely. Through this, the Association of Change Management Professionals indicated that change management is the collection of actions which are designed to aid and encourage the success of an individual and an organizational change, as well as the accomplishment of the desired business outcomes (Murdock, 2017).
ReplyDeleteIn line with this, Coca Cola has been one of the organizations who have undergone change management. It started when Pepsi had aggressively targeted Coca Cola in the 1980s as their bitter rival. Due to this, the organization launched a new Coke which is the sweeter version of the original drink. The new Coke was a flop and did not appeal to the general public. As a result, Coca Cola quickly replaced it with the previous recipe. The brand was able to adjust swiftly to align with the customers’ preferences and taste in order to keep the product’s attraction. The organization’s change management dates back to World War II when they have immediately established itself as a symbol of the US war effort by providing free refreshment to the soldiers. At the same time, it has increased the brand’s reputation. The company’s postwar worldwide growth plan was enhanced as a result of this change in management of Coca Cola. To cater to a larger target group in response to the increase in health concerns, they have released Enviga, Diet Coke, and Coca Cola Zero. Through this, it can be inferred that change management is a critical component of the organization’s vision since it allows them to adapt fast and act proactively in the anticipation of shifting trends.
“The measure of intellect is the ability to change,” Albert Einstein famously said. Through accepting change, it means an organization is accepting new opportunities. The ability of a company to adapt to changes is a crucial competitive advantage. If an organization wishes to succeed, they must stay innovative, anticipate the future, and capitalize opportunities as they emerge.

Hi, Thea!
DeleteAs expected, your work is well-structured and organized. But aside from the technicalities of your work, I appreciate the overall message of your discussion. First, I like how you started with a quote, and I agree that change is inevitable because it is the only constant thing in this world, as they say. I also like the example you have provided because I already heard the story of Coca-Cola changing its recipe and reverting it to the original one because of the unsuccessful change. Now, I already know that change management is why, despite the unsuccessful change in the 1980s, Coca-cola remains on top of the market until today.
Thank you for this discussion. It is definitely a 10/10 for me.

When carrying out a project or initiative, the disciplines of change management and project management are both essential. Each discipline brings the critical structure required for successfully implementing change and achieving the desired results. However, in order for change to be successful, change management and project management must collaborate. This results in a unified value proposition that serves as the foundation for tactical integration and adds value to all aspects of the project, including both the people and technical sides (Creasy, 2021).
ReplyDeleteThe following are some real-world examples of change management in business that shows how resilient companies pivot successfully.
1. Domino’s Pizza. Domino's was struggling to manage its brand reputation and stay relevant in 2008, but the company began to come around after successful change management implementation. Several key participants persuaded upper management to focus on the online-ordering experience after noticing that more orders were being completed online. This move set them apart from other pizza delivery companies at the time. The company's enthusiasm for going digital spread throughout the organization, and new technology was implemented to support the changes. Domino's pizza may now be ordered by text messages, Alexa, Google Home, Twitter, Facebook, and Smart TVs. The company then took advantage of the quantity of client data gained from their ordering system to create customer loyalty programs that continued to boost sales. In fact, Domino's is still embracing change today; it has recently experimented with drone and robot delivery and is partnering with Ford on self-driving delivery options.
2. Lego. The story of Lego may be one of the most remarkable corporate turnarounds ever. From 1932 to 1998, the corporation was a financial success story, never losing money. However, by 2003, revenues had dropped 30% year over year, the corporation was $800 million in debt, and it hadn't developed anything new for its portfolio in more than a decade. The corporation understood in 2004 that it needed to rethink its strategy and the business from the ground up. Lego returned to its roots by concentrating on its core goods. As a result, Lego's product line was reduced from 12,900 to 7,000 distinct parts. Lego also began branching out into new markets, including video games, physical action figures, movies, and other endeavors. Lego was able to come back from bankruptcy and become one of the most successful companies in the world by being adaptable and accepting change.

The only constant thing in the world is change. Hence, every organization strives to adapt to it and conform to the changing needs and desires of the people. However, an organization cannot acclimate to change without changing its internal and external systems. Here is where change management can aid businesses. Change management is the transitioning of organizational processes and conduct that aims to keep pace with the dynamic world. It also facilitates the improvement of strategies, which if, successful, can serve as a competitive advantage among its rivals. On the other hand, project management is equally essential alongside change management. Project management focuses more on a specific aspect of the organization, specifically on how and what actions are ideal to accomplish a particular project or activity.
ReplyDeleteAmong the various organizations that have implemented an organizational change or change management to adjust to the present is Netflix. Netflix started its operation back in 1997 as a DVD or movie rental business. In 1999, it launched its new subscription feature of DVD rentals at a monthly rate, enabling subscribers to enjoy their chosen movie for a month. For customers to avail of this service, they have to select the film and video titles from Netflix’s official website. After that, the distributors send the shows in DVDs to the subscribers.
Due to the heavy competition brought upon by its rivals (Apple, Walmart, and Amazon), Netflix launched the then-revolutionary concept of delivering movies straight to customers’ computers, eliminating the wait time and hassle of receiving and returning discs via post. Its transition from DVD rentals to video streaming is the starting point of its success. They have achieved competitive advantages for adopting new features as per audience demand. But, that success did not stop there. In 2011, Netflix introduced its mobile apps and ios service for smartphone users, which is more convenient as customers want to stream any show on their device commercial-free, with navigational control of their viewing experience. Netflix today offers customers access to convenient, unlimited, commercial-free streaming of TV shows and movies from their devices. Netflix has become the top movie and TV streaming and production company, outweighing its competitors. Netflix proved that adapting to the dynamic and fast-changing world is one of the ingredients in attaining success.

In today’s ever-changing world, adaptability is a quality that any successful organization needs. The conditions and standards in the supply chain industry are constantly improving. Understanding and implementing change management for an organization is critical in order for a business to succeed. Change management is a systematic approach that deals with the transformation of the organization’s objectives and techniques. The primary goal of change management is to put into place the strategies for bringing about change, controlling it, and assisting people to adapt to change. (Pratt, 2019)
ReplyDeleteOver the years, Coca-Cola faced a number of challenges. Due to the aggressive marketing campaign of its competitor Pepsi in 1985, Coca-Cola suffered a loss of market share. The popular carbonated drinks were reformulated by the company to better suit the taste of the consumers which is sweeter soda. However, the New Coke was a commercial failure, leading to the public's negative reaction. Protests from various segments of society escalated. Following these events, the company reintroduced the original formula and renamed it Coca-Cola Classic. Despite returning to the original formula, the company faced criticism from a variety of groups. Nevertheless, the brand was able to respond quickly to consumer preferences ensuring that the product's appeal was maintained. The company became even more visible amidst the war since during World War II, Coca-Cola provided the soldiers with free drinks. This benefited the company because they were able to establish franchises in various countries. The company launched and announced their upcoming products in 2005 which are called the Diet Coke and Coca-Cola Zero.
Coca-Cola is undeniably one of the world's most well-known corporations. Aside from the fact that it is one of the oldest corporations, it has survived World War II and other economic changes in recent years, it is still one of the most famous Cola brands in the world. The company was able to overcome the difficulties that flourished. They were able to resist the challenges by utilizing change management as effectively as possible.

In today's fast-paced world, change management has emerged as one of the most important success criteria for any company. Technology is rapidly evolving, client preferences are shifting, new market laws are being implemented on a regular basis, and firms are dealing with enormous global problems. Companies who are unable to adapt and seize growth opportunities are more likely to be outcompeted by more nimble competitors, and may even go out of business. As a result, one of your primary goals should be change preparation (Jouany & Martic, 2020). Here is one real-life example of successful change management in business.
ReplyDeleteOne of the businesses that is still on the market is Domino's Pizza. Behind every success they made, they also faced challenges and struggles. Domino's Pizza was floundering in 2008, as its stock had reached an all-time low. Despite the significance the company placed on maintaining a positive brand image, the company's troubles were making this a difficult task.
Domino's Pizza, on the other hand, was able to get back on its feet in 2012 thanks to an effective change management program. The organization's swift turnaround was due to the fact that key transformation players were able to persuade upper management to join in. Their positive attitude eventually spread throughout the company. To embrace the opportunity, the brand introduced new technology. Despite only 150 being on the road at the time, a new custom delivery vehicle with a heating oven, called the DXP, was developed, which served as a form of advertisement. To keep up with consumer demand, the company increased its digital activities (Profit&, 2019).
Their business was successful as a result of the modifications they made. They didn't waste any time in figuring out a new approach to run their business. Despite the transformation's success, it isn't over yet. They are still seeking a new direction for their business in order to succeed.

Organizations must adapt and transform in order to stay up with changing consumer preferences and technological advancements in society in order to survive and prosper in the long run. Project management and change management are both crucial aspects of a successful change initiative. Each discipline is fundamental to taking the enterprise and people from the transition state to the shared vision, despite their differences in emphasis and technique (Creasy, 2021). To secure a project's planned goals and organizational productivity, both project management and change management should function together.
ReplyDeleteA company that used change and project management is the American subscription streaming service and production company, Netflix. Netflix first opened its doors in 1997, providing customers monthly subscriptions that allowed them to rent movies and have them delivered to their home, avoiding the extra payments that traditional movie rental firms enforced. Netflix has always been a radical corporation, which has likely contributed to the company's capacity to evolve and adjust to the digital age. They began offering online streaming services in 2007. Customers will no longer purchase and wait for DVDs to arrive in the mail; instead, they could sign in online and watch movies and TV series whenever they pleased. This would revolutionize the way people watch content online in the long run (Cullen, 2018). Netflix was able to effectively use change management in order to fulfill the expectations of customers who liked to watch online content without the hurdle of the process of renting DVDs. Netflix has grown from 23 million customers in 2011 to over 137 million in 2018. As a result, they made a great choice with their strategy, knowing that DVDs were becoming obsolete and that they needed to tweak gears. It was once at a decision point, where its long-term viability hinged on how it handled the transition to a digital revolution. If they had not entirely modified their business strategy to keep up with digitalization and how customers were shifting how they viewed videos, they would have been out of business. This instance demonstrates how technological innovation may be a daunting challenge for some firms.
It must always be remembered that for companies to flourish and expand, they must undergo organizational transformation and that change management is necessary for the efficient adoption and implementation of change in the workplace. With all the inevitable change happening in a workplace, changed might open new business opportunities like a transformation in business operations, process and etc. Improvement in service and product innovation or keeping up with the ever-changing world of technology. Project management as defined by (Alexandra, 2016) is the people, process and methodologies to plan, execute and monitor activities as well as sets general strategy objectives in order to meet the organization's project goal. Furthermore, change management is somewhat similar to project management yet it is the application of systematic procedure leading people to achieve the desired outcome. Both of this work alongside with one goal which is to carry the business objectives. A company that successful uses change management and project management is the famous soft drink company COCA-COLA. According to (Profit&, 2019) in 1980 Coca-Cola and their rival Pepsi had a tight competition, a result of this is Coca-Cola producing a sweetened version of their carbonated drink in which received negative feedback in consumers taste preference, however, Coca-Cola waste no time to improved their previous formula. The brand was able to adapt promptly to consumer preferences in this case, ensuring that the product's attraction was preserved. Some of the business change management samples are targeting a more health-conscious target market in which they release Enviga, Diet coke and Coca-Cola Zero. It's apparent how change management is a critical component in Coca-Cola's strategic vision by responding rapidly and working effectively in anticipating for market change. Changes in organization is always occurring, and they have become a vital component in adjusting to the constant change of the marketplace.

As we all know, change is definitely inevitable, and everyone has experienced change. Also, there's no doubt that we're living in challenging moments and so companies must use the newest change management approaches to establish resiliency inside their businesses and keep their organization afloat in this trying times. But first what is change management, according to the American Society for Quality change management is defined as the methods and manners in which a company describes and implements change within both its internal and external processes wherein, preparing and supporting personnel, developing the essential change processes, and monitoring pre- and post-change activities to guarantee effective implementation are all part of this process.
ReplyDeleteA successful company that I have researched which utilized proper and effective change management is the company named NETFLIX. Netflix has been operating since 1997 wherein they originally offered their customers monthly subscriptions of DVD which they deliver it to your door. But when streaming was introduced in the 2007 it was the turning point for them to think of ways on improving and so the company Netflix adapt and embraced the change and they started offering content online which made them successful up until now. Meanwhile, the company Excellus BlueCross BlueShield used project management which lead them to success because they know since many of their decisions were based on inaccurate data which they also had poor visibility of their resource capacity and so to increase their data quality, they used portfolio and resource management. Which helped them to increase their timesheet submission rate into 99% and so with the help of the portfolio that is properly aligned with their resource capacity the organization is more capable of delivering work on time.

Change management helps organizations to efficiently and successfully achieve their strategic vision. It focuses on the people who are affected by the projects or other organizational changes. Similarly, project management also helps organizations in a sense that it focuses on the processes and activities required to execute a project.
ReplyDeleteOne example that uses change management and project management is the Netflix Corporation. It is an online video streaming platform that allows users to watch movies, TV shows, documentaries online. The user can watch all these videos through a subscription service. Netflix has made two significant changes since its launch. First, it began the subscription option in 1999 to store DVD rental. This change allows consumers to rent unlimited DVD rental without late fees. The second change came later, when Netflix launched an internet video streaming service. It is believed that the launch of video streaming services has become the primary source of revenue. Netflix has successfully implement a flat organizational structure that allows employees a lot of independence. It encourages employees to be more committed to their responsibilities. It also focuses on fostering a positive work environment that encourages employees to perform well. Furthermore, it has a labor division that works to improve their performances. Netflix's organizational management teams are constantly focused on exercising and protecting the general quality management tools that have driven the company to become the world's most popular corporation.
Netflix began as a typical business, but it has gained a competitive advantage by adapting its business model to meet customer demand. It is becoming increasingly well-known for its ease of use, high quality, and advanced features. After all, adopting new technology and adapting to it is an unavoidable part of meeting client demand.

The application of a systematic process and set of tools for guiding the people side of change to accomplish a desired goal is known as change management. Project management, on the other hand, focuses on the tasks required to successfully conceptualize, develop, and implement a project, initiative, or technical solution.
ReplyDeleteLego is an excellent example of a corporation that manages change and projects well. The narrative of Lego's rebirth has been dubbed "the greatest corporate turnaround in history." From 1932 through 1998, Lego had never lost money. However, because they haven't added anything of value to their portfolio in a decade, their sales plummet by 30%. Lego's owner stated that the company was running out of money and would be forced to shut down. The beloved toy firm reached the brink of bankruptcy in 2004 after a long period of expansion. With a realistic but dreadful consequence looming on the horizon, they decided it was time to begin reorganization and product development. They discovered that, unlike Netflix, the existence of a physical product does not provide a limitless possibility because people's interests vary over time.
Instead than focusing on physical toy products, Lego has made an attempt to increasingly focus on linking the physical and virtual augmented reality experiences. As a result, Lego's comeback has gone down in history. LEGO has been able to change its brand and stay up with the demands of its target audience by identifying new sources of revenue. Lego has effectively used both change and project management to be able to manufacture more and exceed its limitations in order to assist them achieve their intended goal.

In this regard, Netflix is one of the most effective examples. A decade ago, Netflix, the behemoth media-services provider, was founded. The model had previously offered customers the option of signing up for monthly subscriptions that included having movies delivered to their doorstep. Thus, they were spared the late fees that were levied against them by traditional video rental businesses.
ReplyDeleteNetflix has proven to be a disruptive organization from the beginning, which has most likely resulted in the company's ability to transform and adapt to the digital environment. Subscribers no longer had to wait for DVDs to arrive in the mail when streaming was introduced in 2007 for the business sector.
To meet the needs of consumers who would begin to watch content online, Netflix successfully implemented change management strategies. It was at a crossroads at one point, with its long-term viability reliant on how well it managed the transition to a digital-based economy.
Netflix subscribers increased from 23 million in 2011 to more than 137 million in 2018 after surviving a drop in subscription numbers and stock prices. Consequently, they had faith in their strategy, knowing that DVDs were on their way out and that they needed to shift their focus accordingly.

Change management ensures that the business can use and successfully adopt new things essential for doing well and growing more extensive for the company. In this way, employees can know and acknowledge the shift and function appropriately (Stobierski, T. 2020). It refers to any approach to transition individuals, teams, and organizations using methods intended to redirect resources, business processes, budget allocations, or other modes of operation that significantly reshape a company or organization.
ReplyDeleteCompany transitions can be costly both time and money if there is no effective organizational change management. Employee morale and skill development can also be negatively affected. Ultimately, the purpose of change efforts is to radically alter how business is performed to better cope with today's demanding market conditions.
In accordance with it, Nokia's remarkable transformation from a hardware maker on the verge of bankruptcy to one of the world's leading technology companies demonstrates how significant corporations may adapt to serious challenges by reinventing themselves. Nokia created the Booster Programme in 2008 to help the corporation keep up with the ever-changing expectations of its consumers and keep up with new technologies provided by its competitors. They reduced the number of business units from nine to four, and they consolidated development under three business units. Additionally, Coca-history Cola's change management dates back to World War II, when the company provided complimentary beverages to American soldiers. In the 1980s, Coca-Cola responded fast to Pepsi's introduction of the New Coke formula by discontinuing it and replacing it with the previous formula. During the Asian financial crisis, the business adopted an acquisition strategy better to meet the needs of its customers and clients. Change management is a critical component of Coca-overall Cola's strategic vision, as seen by the company's ability to adapt rapidly and act proactively in anticipation of changing trends.
As a result of the constantly changing marketplace dynamics in today's environment, organizational changes have become a core part of adapting to the continuously shifting trends of the global market. Whatever the nature of your business, your objectives remain constant.

Coca-Cola Corporation is one of the world's largest producers of carbonated beverages. To remain competitive, the company's management is constantly modifying its strategies, procedures, and products to match consumer expectations and improve efficiency. According to Profit& (2019), Coca-Cola Corporation has faced a variety of change management issues, one of which dates back to the 1980s, when Pepsi began actively targeting Coca-Cola. As a result, the latter introduced New Coke, a sweeter variant of its classic beverage. Unfortunately, it was a flop and did not catch the interest of the general public. Coca-Cola quickly replaced it with the previous recipe. Subsequently, they were able to adjust swiftly to consumer preferences and sustain the product's demand. During WWII, Coca-Cola swiftly established itself as a symbol of the US war effort by providing free beverages to soldiers. At the same time, it increased brand awareness in nations occupied by allied forces. During this time, Coca-Cola expanded its global reach by opening 64 new manufacturing facilities. In addition, in response to rising health concerns, Coca-Cola introduced Enviga, Diet Coke, and Coca-Cola Zero to appeal to their target market. The corporation then followed an acquisition strategy amid the Asian financial crisis to better meet with consumer demands. These are just a few of the change management examples that demonstrate how Coca-Cola manages to remain ahead of the competition. It's apparent how change management is a critical component in Coca-overall Cola's strategic vision by adjusting fast and acting promptly in anticipation of shifting trends, and these changes have allowed the corporation to remain competitive in the industry.

Project management as defined by Mansa (2021), is an approach involving the planning and organization of a company’s resources to move a specific task, event, or duty towards completion. It is often associated with fields in engineering and construction such as healthcare and information technology. A successful company that utilized project management is Flowserve in which they used portfolio and project management. Specifically, they have used an automated gate review process to better manage work in the pipeline and speed time to market which would mitigate their delays (Quinn, 2018).
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, a sub-approach of project management, change management is a systematic approach to dealing with the transition or transformation of an organization's goals, processes or technologies. Its importance lies on the increase of the success of critical projects and initiatives and improves the company’s capability to adapt quickly (Pratt, 2019). This approach to the business operations would capacitate the entire workforce and/or the policies in relation to their respective management to the new plans, policies, or projects that the management have come up with. Upon my research, I have decided to put the brands that I am very familiar with. First, would be Coca-Cola where they utilized change management to their response on the current events in which made them ahead of the curve and have the highest market share. They proactively made adjustments to their products such as releasing new products, offering new drinks, and constant organizational changes in today’s environment (Profit&, 2019). Second, would be the Lego company used the change management approach when they focused on their core product as the main tool to produce their earnings when they are in debt (Hesseln, 2020).

Any change management program must identify potential points of concern, accommodate the needs of all stakeholders, and, most importantly, bridge the division between leadership objectives and those affected by the change. Both project management and change management seek to enhance the possibility that projects or initiatives will provide the desired goals and outcomes. Although each discipline may work alone, integrating change management and project management to provide a holistic strategy to achieving change on both fronts is the most successful way. Perhaps no organization has faced as many change management issues as the Coca-Cola Company. One example came from the 1980s when Pepsi began actively targeting Coca-Cola. In response, the latter introduced New Coke, a sweetened variation of their traditional beverage. New Coke was a flop and did not appeal to the general people. Coca-Cola quickly replaced it with the previous recipe. The brand was able to adapt promptly to consumer preferences, in this case, ensuring that the product's attraction was preserved. It even dates back to World War II, when Coca-Cola aggressively positioned itself to symbolize the US war effort by providing complimentary refreshments to soldiers. At the same time, it increased brand awareness in destination nations occupied by allied forces. During this time, Coca-Cola expanded its global reach by opening 64 new manufacturing facilities. The company's post-war worldwide expansion plan was expedited due to this. Those were a few examples of how Coca-Cola uses change management to stay ahead of the competition. Coca-Cola developed Enviga, Diet Coke, and Coca-Cola Zero to appeal to this demographic due to growing health concerns. Following that, the organization pursued an acquisition strategy to better address customer preferences during the Asian financial crisis. It's apparent how change management is a critical component in Coca-overall Cola's strategic vision by reacting fast and acting proactively in anticipation of shifting trends. Organizational changes are occurring all the time in today's climate, and they have become a vital component in adjusting to the ever-changing dynamics of the marketplace. Whatever your industry, your aims are the same. If you want to prosper, stay inventive, foresee the future, and capitalize on opportunities as they arise, you must have the capabilities to make real-time choices via Connected Planning. You can execute successful change management at scale by aligning your internal teams and having the capacity to see around corners, stay ahead of change, and make better-informed decisions.

Project management and change management are frequently mixed up. Even though they both involve managing people and processes, they are distinct disciplines (Lucid, n.d.). Project management is the process of defining, carrying out, and monitoring specific work that is constrained by a timeline, a defined scope, and goals. It is frequently performed by a group and is given a budget to work with (Murdock, 2016). While on the other hand, change management refers to any approach to transitioning individuals, teams, and organizations that uses methods to redirect resources, business processes, budget allocations, or other modes of operation that significantly reshape a company or organization. The overarching goal of change initiatives is to fundamentally alter how businesses operate to help them cope with the challenging market environment. So overall, change management adds value to the project management process by addressing the human factor.
ReplyDeleteNetflix is an American media streaming, and video rental corporation started in 1997 by Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph. We have all experienced watching movies using DVDs. We all know how hard to do that because if the CDs you will use have been damaged, they will not be played and will be put on to waste. Netflix implemented change management successfully to meet the needs of consumers who would begin watching content online. It was once at a crossroads. Its long-term viability is contingent on managing the transition to a digital future.

Smart businesses are constantly looking for successful project management examples to learn how other businesses accomplish their project management objectives. One of the examples of the businesses that accomplish the application of project management is American Airlines. The merger of American Airlines and US Airways resulted in a technology and program overlap. They were well aware that the spreadsheets used by American Airlines were insufficient for managing resources and complex projects. They began using portfolio and resource management for time entry, resource management, and capacity planning to gain visibility into the broader divisional and global priorities. As a result, the airline increased its capitalization of IT labor from 10% to 20%, resulting in a multimillion-dollar net positive impact on its balance sheet. They now have access to more accurate and reliable data to help them make critical decisions about projects and resources.

Change is very essential for every business to prosper for a long time. It is a must for different companies to continuously adjust and become more adaptive to any changes in today's modern world. Several companies are aware of the need for adjustments, especially if they know that if they do not act to adapt to these changes, it will affect significantly their business. Therefore, we have so-called change management to help the business to adapt easily to any current and foreseeable changes. Organizational change management is a step-by-step measure designed by an organization to ensure that adjustments made in critical areas are effectively managed without jeopardizing operations (SweetProcess, n.d). On the other hand, project management is a crucial practice that applies process, expertise, tool, deliverable, and technique knowledge to project tasks to guarantee the project has achieved its stated expectations and objectives (Harned, n.d).
ReplyDeleteCoca-Cola is one of those companies that utilize change management effectively, which leads them towards continuous growth and development. Since its introduction in the late 1800s, the Coca-Cola Company has faced numerous change management issues. For instance, Pepsi was the biggest competitor to Coca-Cola before, and this company began assertively targeting them in the 1980s. So, to compete with them, Coca-Cola decided to launch a sweeter soda, which is called a New Coke. However, this newly launched product failed to appeal to the masses. Due to this failure, Coca-Cola promptly responded to consumer preferences by replacing it with the older formula to keep the appeal of its product. Coca-Cola also decided to expand their product line by introducing Diet Coke and Coca-Cola Zero in response to rising health consciousness among consumers.

The company continues to invest in research to improve the quality of its products. In fact, they produce a variety of flavors such as Fanta and Sprite, which are becoming popular with consumers. It proves how they are constantly expanding and trying different things with the flavors of their beverages in order to meet the demands of the public. This series of events shows the eagerness of Coca-Cola to maintain their strong position in the market and how it effectively incorporates change management into its strategic vision. They respond rapidly and act proactively in expectation of evolving trends and demands of the public.

ReplyDeleteThere is a famous maxim saying that the only constant thing on earth is change. Thus, every single thing that exists on earth changes. May it be physical or constructive. Hence, what we have today is susceptible to minimal to massive change. In connection with every organization, the success that they have today reflects how each one of them thrives to overcome changes in the market as well as changes in their organization. Thus, as defined by Pratt (2019), an organization utilizes change management to deal with the transition or transformation of an organization's goals, objectives, processes, or technologies. It was also emphasized that change management has a goal of implementing strategies for effective changes in the organization to adapt to various changes. Furthermore, a company that maximizes the use of change management is Lego. Lego experienced a rollercoaster ride regarding their career. They have times where they are on the top and times where they faced several turnarounds. After realizing that they were not able to produce new products which will suit the need of their existing and new customer, they started to change something in their organization. By adapting to vast changes and modifying certain operations brings Lego company to withstand dynamic customer demand. In a nutshell, Lego's flexibility and perseverance to go along with dynamic changes and to provide something new to the table helped them to stay on top in their industry. Thus, utilizing the change management in an organization will make a company be with the current market demand and be with the susceptible changes that is and that will happen in the market. To sum up, change may take place but an adequate system to adapt and support dynamic changes will help a company retain its image and profitability in the business world.

Nowadays, everything is constantly evolving, and we must adapt since failure to do so would result in a slew of difficulties and problems. Change is vital in business because numerous internal and external threats, including risks, may occur, and change is the only method for a firm to handle and mitigate such problems. Furthermore, embracing current business trends and practices assists the organization in achieving its goals and objectives while assuring the company's ability to deliver change that has an influence on projects, processes, structures, and individual transition. This also covers project management, which is concerned with monitoring and controlling the project team's operations in order to fulfill project goals.
ReplyDeleteFollowing, Nokia is one of other company who performed change management. Nokia, a Finnish corporation, controlled the mobile phone industry as they grew popular. However, due to declining profitability, the business quit the market in 2014. Although this isn't the first time Nokia has remade itself, it was a significant choice for the company. subsequent action is made as Nokia executive made the decision to sell the device division to Microsoft. Networking equipment is becoming Nokia's new main business. This was not an easy decision for management to make; Nokia already had a cooperation with networking equipment producer Siemens. The company's executives understood that investing in networking equipment is a superior business plan. To that purpose, they purchased Siemens and implemented a new portfolio strategy, corporate structure, business plan, capital structure, and management team. Nokia has had a steadily rising share price, an enterprise value that has grown 12-fold since July 2012, returned billions of dollars in cash to its shareholders, and become Finland's most valuable company once again since transitioning from a manufacturer of mobile devices to one of networking equipment.

The business world is changing at a fast pace: technology keeps evolving, customer trends are changing, new market regulations are being launched on a regular basis, and businesses have to cope with unprecedented global crises. Change management and Project management has become one of the most critical success factors for any business in today's ever-changing world. Change management focuses on the people affected by the projects (or other changes within the organization). Whereas project management focuses on the processes and activities needed to complete a project (such as a new software application).
ReplyDeleteListed below are some real-life example of successful Change and Project management in Business.
1. Shell. In 2004 after the oil crisis that negatively effected Shell’s share price, a new Chairman was put into place, Jeroen Van Der Veer. He believed that in order for the company to survive, structural transformations needed to be made. This is where change management came into effect. The change plan he wanted to in cooperate was a risk at it was to cover the company as a whole; including 80 Shell operating units. Those leading the change had to be highly determined and ensure that all markets and departments stayed on track. From the start, it was recognized that mandating the changes was the only way for them to drive the transformational growth they aimed for.
2. American Airlines. American Airlines merger with US Airways created an overlap in technology and programs. They knew spreadsheets were insufficient for managing resources and complex projects. To gain visibility into the broader divisional and global priorities, they began using portfolio and resource management for time entry, resource management, and capacity planning. As a result, the airline went from capitalizing 10 percent of their IT labor to 20 percent, which equated to a multi-million-dollar net positive impact on their balance sheet. Now, they have access to better, more reliable data to make critical decisions on projects and resources.
The importance of change management and project management in organizations can't be overstated. When it's done right, it helps every part of the business run more smoothly and effectively.

Project management and change management both aim to increase the likelihood that projects or initiatives deliver the intended results and outcomes. Although each discipline can function independently, the most effective approach is to integrate change management and project management to create a unified approach to implementing change on both fronts. The following are what I have gathered:
ReplyDeleteChange Management
In 1997, the gargantuan media-services provider Netflix was born. Previously, the model offered customers monthly subscriptions to have movies posted to their door. This meant they avoided the late fees which traditional movie rental business imposed upon customers. From the beginning, Netflix proved to be a disruptive organisation which has likely resulted in its capability to transform and adapt to the digital world. Streaming began in 2007 for the business and meant subscribers no longer needed to wait for DVDs to come through the mail.
Netflix successfully implemented change management to meet the needs of the consumers that would begin to watch content online. At one stage, it was at a crossroads, when its long-term sustainability was dependent on how it managed the change to a digital future. After surviving a drop in subscription numbers and stock figures, Netflix subscribers grew from 23 million in 2011 to more than 137 million in 2018. So trusting their plan worked, as the business knew DVDs were on their way out and they needed to shift gears.
Project Management
According to O'Quinn (2018), the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) needed to establish consistent, reliable data to inform financial and resource decisions. They chose portfolio aRBS Case Studynd resource management to drive consistency as they decommissioned 35 legacy systems, 50+ user-developed tools, and hundreds of spreadsheets. With data in different formats and hundreds of projects managed by different systems, they wanted to get a grip on their data to see their total portfolio more clearly. They could deliver on their business case and achieve ROI within 12 months. Along the way, they’ve improved transparency and reduced costs in each business unit.

Change management is defined as an actions and procedures used by a business to characterize and enact policy in the operational processes. Gearing up and encouraging team, creating the proper actions for change, and supervising pre- and post-change activities to guarantees effective execution are all part of this.
ReplyDeleteNokia had been savouring its accomplishment before smartphones joined the marketplace, with the company claiming 40% of the market share in 2007. However, five years later, the Finnish organization was nearly complete! It drew closer to disaster as the company's stock plunged and it incurred more than $2 billion in operating losses in the first half of 2012. Nokia realized it had squandered an opportunity to lead the smartphone revolution. The company then hired a new CEO and set out on a journey to revitalize itself. After selling it to the Microsoft, Nokia changed its focus on network and mapping. Nokia launched a Booster Program in 2008 to help the company keep up with its consumers' shifting needs as well as new technologies from competitors. They reduced the number of business areas from nine to four and reduced innovation to only three. Nokia also bought Siemens, followed by Alcatel-Lucent. It generated billions in investor value as a result, and now it's a full-service infrastructure supplier. Nokia's remarkable transformation from a near-bankrupt hardware company to a dominant technology player demonstrates how huge corporations may alter itself in the face of major challenges.

ReplyDeleteBusinesses must be flexible in order to stay on top of continuously changing industries and markets, and project management and change management will be helpful in overcoming any challenges. Change management, by definition, is the application of processes and tools to manage the people side of change from one state to another, whereas project management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to project activities. When it comes to completing a project or initiative, both are required. Each discipline contributes to the critical structure required for successfully implementing change and obtaining the desired outcomes. And a good example is Netflix, a successful company that has implemented proper and effective change management. Netflix has been in business since 1997, when it first started offering monthly DVD memberships delivered to your door. However, when streaming was introduced in 2007, it was a watershed moment for them to consider how they could improve, and as a result, Netflix adapted and welcomed the change, and they began offering content online, which has helped them succeed to this day.
With project management, Flowserve is also one of those who successfully implements it. It is a multinational factory employing 19,000 people that wishes to improve decision-making by driving new product growth and gaining insights. They were having difficulties increasing labor productivity, tracking projects, and keeping costs under control. As a result, Flowserve has become more agile and brings products to market faster as a result of portfolio and resource management. Thanks to an automated gate review procedure, they are now better able to manage work in the pipeline and improve time to market, reducing launch delays. This enables them to better control costs and measure success. These two successful companies prove that success can also be achieved through change.

Change management is described as a company's methods and procedures for describing and implementing change in both internal and external activities. Preparing and supporting personnel, developing the essential change processes, and monitoring pre- and post-change activities to guarantee successful implementation are all part of this process. Changes usually fail for human reasons: the promoters of the change did not attend to the healthy, real and predictable reactions of normal people to disturbance of their routines. Any change management program must identify possible problem areas, address the requirements of everyone in the organization, and, most importantly, bridge the gap between leadership goals and those affected by change.
ReplyDeleteOne example of a company that uses change management is Netflix. As a result, they were able to trust their strategy, knowing that DVDs were on their way out and that they needed to alter gears.

Successful businesses probably have their own project management that makes them succeed in their chosen businesses. Those businesses can be see in everything that they do, from the visions, missions and goals through the very end of their processing or making of products. It is a way to achieve something, to execute and attain the highest level of success. Change management is a collaborator of project which exactly do what the project management can't do, that is to communicate the project of the management from inner stakeholders to outside stakeholders. Doing so, will result in a co-existence of both stakeholders in a successful project. The perfect example of this is the telecommunication company here in the Philippines, specifically the PLDT. Their project management can be seen through their works and jobs whereas they provide necessary informations about what products and services and how they deliver their products and services to their customers. It can be traced back to the very beginning of what they want to execute, that is to provide internet services and communications to people of the Philippines. Their change management can be observe on how they communicate their projects to their customers specifically on how they build tower in a residential areas. They gather necessary informations and opinions of customer before they install such towers. No doubt that project management and change management of PLDT is good enough that it enables them to survive for how many decades.

Hi Ms. Ompad, showing us how change management and project management affects the innovation and improvement of company is a big help for us to understand how important the they're in a company.

ReplyDeleteOne of the ultimate goals of many companies is to give value to the customers, markets and nation. Creating value through a unique product, services or result may have a great impact to the success of the company. This pertains to project management which the specific knowledge, skills, tools and techniques are used to deliver something of value to people. The development of software for an improved business process, the construction of a building, the relief effort after a natural disaster, the expansion of sales into a new geographic market. These are all examples of projects. Today, we live in The Project Economy, where projects are the driving force behind how work is done, change is realized and value is delivered.
On the other hand, the only thing that is permanent in this world is change. It is an inevitable flow of life. Change may happen at all times. As a business entrepreneur, you must be flexible and adaptable to the never-ending changes through the years. Meanwhile, Change is a fundamental part of every company and is how businesses grow and evolve to be more successful. It is important for those who implement change to move the process along efficiently. Effectively enacting change management can help employees achieve a common goal and boost the advancement of a company as a whole.
For instance, the Netflix success through the years. One of the main drivers for the remarkable success of the streaming service is strategic agility. Netflix’s ability to adapt in changes in order to grow is a lesson for businesses of all sizes. In July 2018, American media streaming company Netflix cemented its place at the forefront of the television industry as it ended rival HBO’s 17-year streak of receiving the most nominations for the annual Primetime Emmy Awards. To put this achievement into context, Netflix didn’t start to produce any of its own content until 2012, and was actually founded in 1997 as a DVD mail-order business. Two words can be used to define Netflix’s ability to continuously innovate and challenge the established norms of entertainment: digital transformation.
Netflix successfully implemented change management to meet the needs of the consumers that would begin to watch content online. At one stage, it was at a crossroads, when its long-term sustainability was dependent on how it managed the change to a digital future.

Change management maintains a constant state of evolution and to promote periods of general corporate change. It enables employees to stay engaged and productive while new technology or procedures are implemented. It might be a change at the project or team level, or it could be a change to a work process or system when changes are necessary. Performance must genuinely improve in the meaningful way that was intended for a change to be "successful." Furthermore, projects with better change management are more likely to be completed on schedule and under budget. The success of a project is linked to the efficacy of change management. According to Prosci, “The bottom line of change management is this: to ensure benefit realization and value creation by addressing the people side of change and by driving required adoption and usage of change solutions.”
ReplyDeleteAmazon is one of the best examples of a firm that employs change management and project management. Given that Amazon began as an online bookshop, it has pioneered in a variety of fields and businesses, including delivery, warehouse automation, web server industry, streaming video and on-demand media, and electronic books. Amazon Web Services (AWS) has established itself as the world's leading cloud server provider. Amazon began making adjustments to the grocery store network in terms of entire foods. By offering premier memberships, they also pioneered product delivery. At addition, many of Amazon's merchandise are collected and transported by robots in its warehouse. Amazon also offers digital video rentals, streaming, and sales. Amazon Go, a business that promises no checkout lines, no trouble, and ultra-convenience, is also featured. Members of Amazon Associates may make money by referring customers to the online retailer.
In conclusion, Amazon's distinguishing characteristic has been its readiness to adapt. What began as an online bookstore has grown into a multi-industry powerhouse. It has suffocated non-innovative businesses, changed various industries, and showed no signs of stopping down.

ReplyDelete"Change is the new normal" is a saying that is widely used and heard for a long time ago up to now. It can be used in several sectors of our life also in enterprises. Everything is continually changing, and the rate of change is not likely to slow down anytime soon. Murdock (Murdock, 2017). Before I give an example of a business that employs it, let us see its definition. Change management focuses on the people who are impacted by projects or other organizational changes. The overall purpose of change efforts is to radically alter how businesses operate to assist them in coping up with today's difficult market conditions. Meanwhile, Project management is primarily concerned with achieving a project's strategic objectives.
To ensure a project's long-term success, project and change management generally work together. One of the best examples of this is the Coca-Cola Company. Pepsi, the rival of it, was one of the companies that targeted the corporation in the 1980s. The Coca-Cola Company responded by releasing a new version of its drink. However, because it did not appeal to the general public, it was rapidly replaced by an older formula that is ideal for consumer tastes. Coca-Cola rapidly established itself as a symbol of the US war effort by providing refreshments to soldiers. At the same time, it increased brand recognition in destination countries occupied by allied forces. During this time, Coca-Cola expanded its global reach by opening 64 new manufacturing facilities. Both project and change management should work in tandem to ensure a project’s intended outcomes and overall organizational success.

DeleteMaking personal connections, keeping innovative while adhering to simple principles, and generating branded experiences are global marketing tactics that have helped Coca-Cola maintain its position as an industry leader after 125 years. These are just the ways where Coca-Cola stays ahead of the curve when it comes to change management. Change management is a critical component of Coca-Cola's strategic vision since it allows the company to adapt fast and act proactively in anticipation of shifting trends. Stay innovative, predict the future, and seize chances as they arise if you want to prosper. It is never easy to make a change, and it is feasible to be productive if the right tools and techniques are being used.

ReplyDeleteGIVE AN EXAMPLE COMPANY THAT USES CHANGE MANAGEMENT AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND TELL US HOW THEIR PROCESSES AND OPERATIONS IMPROVED? SUPPORT YOUR EXPLANATION BY PROVIDING YOUR SOURCES AS REFERENCES.
ReplyDeleteJohn Maxwell once said, "Change is inevitable. Growth is optional", a very relevant quotation especially in the business industry. Organizations need to cope up and embrace change to satisfy their consumers since the tastes and preferences of these people are always changing depending on what is the current trend.
Moreover, if a company does not earn a profit, then, it is crucial to review whether its processes are efficient and relevant as to technologies, marketing strategies, innovative ideas, etc. Thus, the best solution is to consider project management or change management.
Just like what happened on Domino's Pizza wherein their major competitor– Pizza Hut was earning higher sales compared to them. The reason why the company underwent change management by creating savvy marketing and providing new ordering methods which is very convenient among the customers. Domino's Pizza maximized the use of technology from implementing traditional practices to engaging with technologically advanced operations. They introduced a new custom delivery vehicle with a heating oven; a convenient ordering method and payment schemes through text messages, Smart TV, and various applications. They also developed loyalty programs and special discount offers to boost up their sales.
Despite the success of their change management implementation, Domino's Pizza does not stop seeking to trend. And so, they are into testing drone and robot delivery while also collaborating with Ford on their self-driving option delivery.
Accordingly, Domino's Pizza is successful in taking the risk of changing some of its processes. This situation should be a reminder for other entrepreneurs to take risks as it may provide them with higher returns in the future.

ReplyDeleteChange means growth opportunities. To applied the change that a business is aiming, a good project management is also need to be conducted. Project management entails the planning and organizing of a company's resources in order to complete a certain work, event, or obligation. It might be a one-time project or a continuous effort, with resources such as staff, funds, technology, and intellectual property controlled. The tools and methods used to manage change within a project and its team are referred to as change management tools and processes. Change management is essential in project management since the industry is fast-paced and things might change quickly. As a result, project managers must be ready to change as needed. There are some well-known businesses which already used the change management and project management for the betterment of their firm. For example, the Netflix, wherein it has shown to be a disruptive business from the start, which has likely resulted in its capacity to evolve and adapt to the digital age. Streaming began in 2007 for the company, which meant that users no longer had to wait for DVDs to arrive in the mail. Netflix effectively used change management in order to suit the expectations of customers who would start watching content online.

DeleteNetflix has unveiled a new subscription service that allows consumers to rent DVDs on a monthly basis. This service allows customers to rent unlimited DVDs for a monthly fee. As a result, the pay-for-use approach was replaced with a monthly subscription plan. Subscribers select movie and video titles from the Netflix official website. Following that, the programs are distributed to subscribers in the form of DVDs by the distributors. In 2018, Netflix innovated on choose-your-own-adventure content, providing a vision for interactive television. In addition, the firm launched a download-and-go function that lets customers to view episodes offline, and it has expanded into 130 additional nations. This initiative was followed by an attempt to improve Netflix's mobile experience, which is critical as the firm grows into international markets where consumers prefer to view video on their phones.

Prosci defines change management as the application of a structured process and set of tools for leading the people side of change to achieve a desired outcome. When defining change management for others, it is helpful to discuss it in the context of two closely related concepts: the change itself and project management (Prosci, 2021). A change is the project, initiative or solution being introduced in the organization to improve the way work gets done, solve a problem, or take advantage of an opportunity. While project management is typically associated with a traditional Waterfall approach, there are numerous ways to deliver projects. Project management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project activities to meet project requirements (PMBOK® Guide, 2021).
ReplyDeleteCoca-Cola is a great case of how to manage change. Coca-Cola continued proactive during World War II, marketing itself as a symbol of the US war effort all the while raising product recognition in allied-occupied nations by handing out free drinks to GIs. In the process, it established 64 new manufacturing facilities around the world, accelerating the company's post-war global expansion strategy. Coca-Cola has been proactive in adapting its strategy in recent years. Coca-Cola, for example, has responded to increased health consciousness by releasing new products such as Enviga, Diet Coke, and Coca-Cola Zero. The corporation followed an acquisition strategy during the Asian financial crisis in order to better deal with shifting consumer tastes (ALC Training, n.d.)

Nowadays, every individual must be aware that change is inevitable. Each and every one of us must learn how to deal with it, to cope up and immediately adapt for the upcoming happenings in world to be able to achieve our goals and objectives. In line with this, businesses should also consider the changes happened as well as those might happen in order for it to adapt in the shifting trends. The change management and project management are one of the keys for a business to cope up with the changes. Change management is a systematic approach to dealing with the transition or transformation of an organization's goals, processes or technologies. The purpose of change management is to implement strategies for effecting change, controlling change and helping people to adapt to change (Pratt, 2019). Additionally, project management involves the planning and organization of a company's resources to move a specific task, event, or duty towards completion. It can involve a one-time project or an ongoing activity, and resources managed include personnel, finances, technology, and intellectual property (The Investopedia Team, 2021). An example of company that uses change management is the Coca Cola, way back 1980s when bitter rivals Pepsi started to aggressively target Coca-Cola. In response, the latter released New Coke - a sweeter version of its classic drink. However, New Coke wasn’t a success and didn’t appeal to the public. Coca Cola manages to stay ahead of the curve through responding to greater health consciousness, Coca-Cola released Enviga, Diet Coke and Coca-Cola Zero to appeal to this target market. Then during the Asian financial crisis, the organisation pursued an acquisition strategy to better deal with consumer preferences. Change management play as a critical component of Coca-Cola's overall strategic vision since it allows the company to adapt fast and act proactively in anticipation of shifting trends.

Another example is the American Airlines, merger with US Airways created an overlap in technology and programs. They knew American Airlines spreadsheets were insufficient for managing resources and complex projects. Through this, they now have better, more accurate data with which to make important project and resource decisions. In conclusion, it just shows that change and adaptation to the shifting trends is really a vital matter in a business.

Lego’s reinvention has seen its story hailed as the greatest turnaround in corporate history. From 1932 until 1998, Lego had never posted a loss. By 2003, Sales were down by 30% year-on-year and the brand was $800 million in debt. What didn’t help their situation was that Lego hadn’t added anything of value to its portfolio for a decade. Much like Netflix, Lego eventually realized that its lifespan of physical products wasn’t going to have an infinite interest. After a period of expansion, this beloved toy company was near bankruptcy in 2004. With this realistic yet disastrous outcome on the horizon, Lego decided it was time to start restructuring. ReplyDeleteAn enterprise has objectives in pursuit to achieve. For these to be realized, project management is requisite. Project management is the use of processes, methods, skills, knowledge, and experience to meet particular project objectives within agreed-upon parameters while adhering to project acceptance criteria. Final outputs are bound by a finite timeframe and budget in project management (APM, n.d.). The project management team solely focuses on the optimal objective strategy of the project. Hence, being inattentive to the project’s impact on the stakeholders outside of their team. Thus, change management must also be executed. A systematic strategy to coping with the transition or transformation of an organization's goals, processes, or technologies is known as change management. The goal of change management is to put in place techniques for bringing about change, controlling it, and assisting people in adapting to it (Pratt, n.d.).

DeleteOne example of a company which successfully utilized both is Lego. The narrative of Lego's rebirth has been heralded as the greatest turnaround in corporate history. Lego had never made a loss from 1932 to 1998. It was a very different story by 2003. Sales were down 30% year over year, and the company owed $800 million in debt. Lego has not added anything of value to its portfolio in over a decade, which didn't assist their situation. So, what occurred between Lego's CEO, Jrgen Vig Knudstorp, confessing that the company was running out of funds and that he wouldn't be able to keep his job, and when the company overtook Ferrari as the most powerful brand in the world in 2015? Lego, like Netflix, finally realized that the excitement in its physical items would not last indefinitely. This beloved toy firm was on the verge of bankruptcy in 2004 after a period of expansion. Lego felt it was time to start reorganizing with this realistic yet dreadful conclusion on the horizon. The company began by implementing digital transformation. Lego is increasingly focusing on linking the physical and virtual augmented reality (AR) experiences, rather than solely on tangible toy products. Lego's comeback has now gone down in history. Brick by Brick: How Lego Rewrote the Rules of Innovation is a book about the issue, and Google, Adidas, and Sony have all mentioned it. LEGO has been able to change its brand and stay up with the demands of its target audience by identifying new sources of revenue.

ReplyDeleteOver the past years, many changes have already taken place in the world. As the famous saying goes, "Change is the only constant thing in the world." People and businesses have to adapt to changes because they'll be left behind if they can't, like some firms who failed to do so, resulting in their tragic fall. Although others see change as a threat, change is an opportunity for an organization to improve and create new systems and environments to help the business succeed. In adapting to these changes successfully, companies must use change management and project management. According to Prosci (n.d.), change management applies a structured process and tools for leading the people side of change to achieve the desired outcome. In contrast, project management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to project activities to meet project requirements (Prosci, n.d.).

DeleteOne example of a company that uses change management and project management is Domino's Pizza. Domino's is a widely recognized pizza restaurant and delivery industry. In 2008, Domino's Pizza was struggling as the stock had hit an all-time low despite the business's importance on maintaining a positive brand image. But in 2012, the brand implemented new technology to create a change. A new custom delivery vehicle with a heating oven was introduced, dubbed the DXP, which acted as an advertisement despite only 150 being on the road at the time. Also, the brand boosted its digital efforts to meet consumer demand. Domino's introduced digital billboards that displayed real-time consumer feedback, established self-driving robot delivery services, and used drones to transport pizza, among other innovations. This change helps Domino's keep transaction costs down while also providing information about their clients. Since launching its mobile solution, the company has generated £450 million in annual revenue from mobile sales alone. Domino's Pizza's modifications resulted in the brand surpassing Pizza Hut in sales for the first time.
As a bottom line, change and project management must work hand in hand to ensure a project's long-term success.

Many risks may be identified during the process of considering changes in business operations. Change in management, according to Pratt (2019), is a systematic approach to dealing with the transition or transformation of an organization's goals, processes, or technologies. The goal of change management is to put in place strategies for bringing about change, controlling change, and assisting people in adapting to change. The business world should adapt to the changes that the world can bring, especially if these changes have the potential to affect the organization's performance. The Oxford Dictionary defines innovation as "the action or process of innovating." A new method or idea may be introduced, and the concept of risks may be accommodated as part of the change process. Domino's Pizza is one example of a company that adapted management changes in 2010. Because of market competition, the company appears to be struggling in 2018, as its stock has reached an all-time low.
ReplyDelete-BANDOLA, ERICA C. (2019-105307)
Despite the importance the company had placed on maintaining a positive brand image, the company's difficulties were making this a real challenge. However, the situation improved after management successfully implemented management changes and introduced new and innovative technology. One of the most important goals of any organization is to provide and meet the needs of its customers, so management introduced a new custom delivery vehicle with a heating oven, dubbed the DXP, which served as a form of advertisement despite the fact that only 150 were on the road at the time. This, along with other ideas and changes implemented by the company, increased the organization's profitability.

Change management is a set of systematic strategies and procedures for a corporation to cope with the transition or transformation of internal and external activities, such as objectives, processes, and technology. One of the best examples of change management is on how google splits up under the Alphabet umbrella. Google is a fast-growing company that they need to break their functions apart to work better. After dominating lots of new high-tech initiatives, Larry Page, a co-founder of Google, decided it was time to restructure the entire organization. It is being said the being a giant does not always good.
ReplyDeleteGoogle had been a giant in the early 2000s, conquering internet search and creating products like Google Maps and Gmail essential in our lives. Its R&D teams seemed to be interested in everything, looking for "moonshot" concepts that co-founder Larry Page claimed were hard for Google engineers to realize. However, the corporation insisted that they give it a go. As a result, Google has become a very varied company. The organization began working on a variety of initiatives, including those involving human longevity, smart cars, wearable technology, smart homes, and other topics. To some way, it was all related. But it wasn't at the same moment. Google was becoming extremely tough to manage. Page determined it was time to disassemble the entire conglomerate in order to avoid major problems in the future.
Page split Google into many firms, all of which are now controlled by Alphabet, a new holding company. Each of Alphabet's business has its own set of goals and a CEO who is solely responsible for attaining them. When the launch of Alphabet was announced, Larry Page explained that the reorganization will allow staff to focus more effectively and cheerfully on their particular purpose without having to worry about Google as a whole. This means that each Alphabet firm is now in charge of its own expenses and revenues. Increasing accountability, on the other hand, may make invention more significant. In the end, it was Page's long-term vision for Google (now Alphabet) that motivated him to spearhead a change management drive for the company's benefit.

When launching a project, many firms employ project management approaches. The Coca-Cola Company is the world's largest multinational beverage company and one of the most well-known organizations to use project management techniques to help with its project. Coca-Cola Company has applied DMAIC Project Management in defining, measuring, analyzing, improving, and controlling the problem. They use this strategy to guarantee that the solution is well-designed, developed, and delivered. Concerning this, they can implement technical solutions associated with a change to solve the complaints of the customers concerning the product in the company.
ReplyDeleteThe Coca-Cola Company faced numerous change management issues over the nineteenth century. Pepsi is a Coca-Cola competitor who is relentlessly pursuing them. Therefore, the business decided to launch a New Coke, a sweeter cola. However, it didn't end up appealing to the public. The situation made Coca-Cola rapidly adapts to consumer preferences to preserve the attraction of their product and replace it with the older formula. In addition, Coca-Cola has also introduced new products such as Enviga, Diet Coke, and Coca-Cola Zero in response to rising health concerns. Coca-Cola also remained aggressive during World War II, marketing itself as a symbol of the US war effort while raising product recognition in Allied-occupied nations by providing free beverages to GIs. In the process, it established 64 new production facilities throughout the world, accelerating the company's post-war worldwide expansion plan. Coca-Cola Company has consistently prioritized and devised new strategies to address shifting consumer demands.
The Coca-Cola Company incorporates project and change management into its overall strategic vision by reacting promptly and acting proactively in anticipation of shifting trends and consumer preferences. Change stimulates innovation and skill development throughout the organization, which leads to improved commercial prospects, allowing Coca-Cola Company to maintain a competitive edge and remain relevant in the market.

"Change is constant" is one of the sayings we often hear everywhere. This saying is applicable to anyone, even in the business industry. Businesses need to embrace change to be efficient and successful. Change management is a structured and methodical strategy to ensure that changes are implemented effectively and that they provide long-term benefits. Change management can address minor process adjustments as well as big policy or strategic shifts. Change management also takes into account the broader implications of change, such as how people and organizations adjust to their new environments. The major goal is to establish a thorough strategy that everyone knows so that changes are easier. (Western Governors University, 2020). On the other hand, project management involves establishing, performing, and monitoring specified work that is constrained by a timeframe, scope, and goals. It is usually carried out by a group of people who are given a budget to work with.( Murdock, 2017).
ReplyDeleteOne example of a company that uses and embraces change management is Lego.
Lego's story may be one of the most remarkable company turnarounds ever. From 1932 to 1998, the corporation performed admirably, never operating at a loss. By 2003, however, sales had dropped 30% year over year, the corporation was $800 million in debt, and it hadn't generated anything new for its inventory in over a decade. The corporation realized in 2004 that it needed to totally restructure its strategy and the company from the bottom up. Lego returned to its foundations and concentrated on its core products. As a result, Lego's total number of distinct components was reduced from 12,900 to 7,000. Lego began branching out into new markets, including online games, realistic action figures, movies, and more. Lego was able to roar back from bankruptcy and earn its spot as one of the world's most powerful brands by being resilient and embracing change (Hesseln, H. 2020).

Before I present an example of a company that employs change and project management, I'll go over the differences between the two practices so you can fully appreciate how they work together to manage projects and the changes they can offer that are critical to your company's success. Change management, as defined by Creasy, T. (n.d), is the application of processes and tools to manage the people side of change from a current state to a new future state to achieve the desired results of the change and an expected return on investment. On the other hand, project management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to project activities to meet project requirements. The intent of change management is to ensure that impacted employees embrace, adopt, and use the solution associated with the change, while project management is to ensure that the solution is designed, developed, and delivered effectively.
ReplyDeleteDomino's Pizza is an example of a successful corporation that uses change management. Despite the priority the company had placed on maintaining a positive brand image, Domino's Pizza was failing in 2008. Its stock had hit an all-time low. Domino's Pizza, on the other hand, was back on its feet by 2012 thanks to a successful change management implementation. To support the opportunity, the brand adopted new technologies. The DXP, a new custom delivery truck with a heating oven, was created. To match consumer demand, the brand increased its digital operations as well. Customers can buy pizza using text messages, Alexa, Google Home, Twitter, Facebook, and Smart TVs. Thanks to its unique operating system, Domino's took advantage of a multitude of consumer data points. This helps Domino's keep transaction costs down while also providing information about its customers. Then there's the process of creating loyalty programs and presenting unique deals to keep sales going up. Despite the success of the transformation, it hasn't ended there. The company has also experimented with drone and robot deliveries, as well as collaborated with Ford on self-driving vehicles.
Cengage Learning, on the other hand, is an example of a successful corporation that employs project management. Cengage Learning was one of the organizations that struggled to estimate capacity effectively because they managed resources and projects using spreadsheets, which added to the company's complexity. They employed portfolio and resource management investment and capacity planning to combine the product delivery planning and execution stages, and they used project management to optimize their work portfolios and project execution. As a result, Cengage Learning can manage, prioritize, and drive projects more easily and effectively, as well as identify which groups require additional staff.

Netflix, Lego, and Coca-Cola are examples of companies that use change and project management to improve their operations and processes. The first is Netflix, which initially provided movie services by sending DVDs through the mail, however by implementing the change management, they transformed this operation into a stable digitalization online. They preserve their capacity to modify and the organisational performance concept, as well as their freedom and responsibility. To improve the company's performance, the company invests in hiring the best skills and hyper formal workers. Instead of focusing solely on physical merchandise, they are focusing on trying to bridge the virtual and physical augmented reality experiences. They implemented change management by increasing productivity, improving product quality, and improving corporate environment in order to counteract the downward trajectory that a company experiences. Finally, due to stiff competition, Coca-Cola created a version that was not well received by the public. However, by utilizing change and project management, they did not waste their time in continuing this formula unless they returned to their original formula. Coca-Cola employs change management by quickly responding and conscientiously to evolving market trends and customer preferences. Organizational changes are occurring all the time in today's environment, and they have become a critical component in adapting to the ever-changing dynamics of the marketplace. Which ever your industry, your aims are still the same. If you ever want to progress, remain innovative, prepare for the future, and capitalize on opportunties, you must have the knowledge to make real-time decisions via Embedded Decision - making.

In order for one’s business to fulfill its objectives and eventually lead to success, they must possess effective management. Every business has its own way of managing the resources as well as the operation itself to fulfill their objectives and to earn high revenue. This management, also known as project management, is defined as the application of skills, programs, techniques, and tools in an operation in order to reach the necessary outcome that must be done, thus, this is the whole process. As a company’s success will depend on its management, it must be 100% efficient and effective, however, there are times that an effective management will be soon ineffective considering the changes in the environment as well as the trends which a company is relying on. Therefore, there is a need for change in the management where the managers are tasked to arrive at better management to keep the business on track. As the management changes, managers help the people affected in the company to adjust to the said changes.
ReplyDeleteMost companies experience this situation and a good example of this is the company of Lego. From 1932 to 1998, they have been earning millions of dollars without any loss, until 2003, where their sales are down by 30% every year and there are numerous debts owed, thus, they are near to experience bankruptcy. Nevertheless, the management realized that the usual physical products they are offering won’t give them infinite interest so they decided to restructure the management specifically the products they are selling. Considering the wide changes in terms of technology, they implemented digital transformation wherein instead of putting their sole focus on physical toy products, Lego is increasingly concentrating on bridging the physical and virtual augmented reality (AR) experiences. As a result, Lego regained their place in the market and their reinvention has been hailed as the greatest turnaround in corporate history.
Management in a company may be effective on long term or short term operation but this might not work in the future as changes are constant today so do the trends in the field of business. And in order to adapt to these changes, a company should not be complacent and be innovative to maintain their competitiveness in the market.

Since the industry is fast-paced and things might change quickly, change management is essential. It is critical to have a systematic change management approach to understand how to react to change and stay on track to meet project objectives. Likewise, project management, when performed correctly, helps every aspect of the business work more successfully. It enables them to achieve outcomes that directly influence their bottom line.
ReplyDeleteCoca-Cola is one example of a company that effectively uses change management and project management. In the 1980s, its fierce competitor Pepsi began aggressively targeting them; in reaction, they introduced New Coke, a sweeter variant of their original drink. New Coke was a flop and did not appeal to the ordinary masses. Coca-Cola quickly replaced it with the previous recipe. The brand was able to adapt promptly to consumer preferences, in this case, ensuring that Coca-Cola retained the product's attraction.
It even dates back to World War II, when Coca-Cola aggressively positioned itself to symbolize the US war effort by providing complimentary refreshments to soldiers. It increased brand awareness in destination nations occupied by allied forces and expanded its global reach by opening 64 new manufacturing facilities. Even today, they are also still adapting to change; they released Coke Diet and Coke Zero for the people who are health conscious. The organization then followed an acquisition strategy to better deal with customer preferences amid the Asian financial crisis.
It's apparent how change and project management are critical components in Coca-overall Cola's strategic vision; they react fast and act proactively in anticipation of shifting trends. It demonstrates how they are continually growing and exploring the tastes of their beverages to suit the public's requests.
The Coca-Cola Company demonstrates that they effectively used change and project management to reach their objectives. And we can see now why they are one of the most well-known beverages in the entire world.

ReplyDeleteChange is inevitable. It takes place in the organization every day. Companies implement change through new projects and initiatives for various reasons, such as improving performance, increasing profits, or enhancing competitive advantage. Change management supports projects by helping teams adapt quickly to new methods to achieve their strategic goals. A project is successful only when users accept and utilize the new application or process. Project managers should promote the change by showcasing the benefits of embracing the new strategy for a successful process change.
An example of this is Domino's Pizza. Domino's Pizza started as a single pizza restaurant in 1960. Today, Domino's Pizza is known as the world's best pizza delivery service. From the start, it focuses on making and delivering great pizza with high-quality ingredients that are easy to find. In addition, they are constantly changing and improving their pizza menu to meet the needs of their customers. (Domino's Pizza Philippines, n.d.) In 2008, Domino's Pizza was having a hard time because the stock had hit a record low at the time. Even though the business tended to have a good brand image, its problems made this a real problem.
Domino's Pizza finally made changes that caused the brand to sell more than Pizza Hut for the first time. It was because of the changes.
Madera, Dianne M.
2019-102064
In 2010, things were finally looking up due to intelligent marketing, creative ordering methods, and new technology. In 2012, Domino's Pizza was able to get back on its feet because of a good change management plan. Due to digital transformation, the company was able to turn around and make Pizza again. The brand used new technology to support the opportunity. They have a delivery vehicle called DXP with a heating oven. Aside from that, customers can order through text messages and other social media platforms. There are also loyalty programs and special deals that are engaging to customers. Despite the fact that it worked, it hasn't stopped there. The company has also tried drone and robot delivery and even worked with Ford on self-driving cars. (Profit&, 2019)

Change is the only constant in life. Steve Jobs, founder and former CEO of Apple Inc. perfectly adopted to changes and mastered innovations since 2007, when they introduce the first iPhone. Apple Inc. pioneered in revolutionizing technologies ever since that made its competitors panic for example, Blackberry creating a counterpart of iPhone which consumers thought was “crappy”. Apple remained one of the most leading brands when it comes to technologies throughout the years because they mastered the art of change management. Apple Inc. introduced new features and products slowly. They don’t release new features rashly, unlike Blackberry’s case, just to catch up with competitors, instead they only release it when it’s ready. Apple are not caught up in fads, they build systems for the general population, not niche groups. Another thing is that Apple prioritize making design and user’s experience (Hoang, 2010). They’ve incorporated the experiences of their customers from their past products to create new innovations and improvement their products’ features. Not only change management that improved their processes and operations, another contributor to the success of Apple Inc. was their project management. In human resources, Apple created the best team with full-time dedication to the project. They are obssessed when it comes to the quality of their products. As I mentioned, they realeas their new features and products slowly and prioritize users experience, this is why their technologies always look and feel easy to use. Apple Inc. are very secretive to the outside world when it comes to their new products, but that is not the case internally, the teams and other persons involve in the execution of the project are properly communicating with each other (Rodriguez, 2019).

Both change management and project management are crucial in an organization, and they frequently function in tandem. Their functions and objectives, on the other hand, are frequently considered in isolation, with distinct purposes and outcomes. When the two are combined, however, they may ensure that a company's procedures are as efficient as possible, as well as that staff remain engaged and productive.
ReplyDeleteIf change in management is what were looking for, there is no other than the Coca cola that can give us more information about its experiences. One example is from the 1980s when bitter rivals Pepsi started to aggressively target Coca-Cola.
In response, Coca-Cola introduced New Coke, a sweetened variant of its iconic beverage. New Coke was a flop, and the people did not like it. Coca-Cola quickly replaced it with an older formula. The company was able to adjust rapidly to consumer preferences in this case, preserving the product's appeal.
When people started to be health conscious and started doing their own researches on products they consume, Coca cola exactly knows that it is time to change their marketing strategy and products to always stay ahead of the curve. Coca-Cola introduced Enviga, Diet Coke, and Coca-Cola Zero to appeal to this target group. The company then pursued an acquisition strategy to better address consumer demands during the Asian financial crisis.
Change management is a critical component of Coca-overall Cola's strategic vision since it allows the company to adapt swiftly and act proactively in the face of shifting trends.
Organizational changes are common in today's climate, and they've become an important part of adjusting to the marketplace's ever-changing dynamics. Your objectives are the same regardless of your business.
You need the skills to make real-time decisions through Connected Planning if you want to prosper, stay innovative, anticipate the future, and seize opportunities as they arise. You can execute successful change management at scale if you align your internal teams and have the ability to see around corners, stay ahead of change, and make better-informed decisions.

Change management is a business modification applied by companies to their internal and external processes--may it be for policies, strategies, operations, structure, infrastructure, and culture (American Society for Quality, 2021). It is done to cope with the changes in technology, market, performance, and customer demand brought up by globalization. An organizational change technically refers to an entity's evolvement to the digital era.
ReplyDeleteNetflix is considered one of the most successful companies that applied change management. As we all know, Netflix is an online video streaming platform that allows users to stream movies, documentaries, and TV shows. However, the app and website we all now know are very different from what it was before. The business that launched in 1998 started with selling DVDs and rentals by mail. It then changed to DVDs Subscription Model in 1999 where subscribers may access their website to choose the movies they wish to watch and the distributors will send it to them (Kobiruzzaman, 2021).
Fast-forward to the year 2007, Netflix decided to completely adapt and take advantage of the internet. However, the online video streaming feature did not click in its first few years. The providers updated the system and introduced mobile apps so more people can access it. From 23 million in 2011, the subscription numbers and stock figures grew up to more than 137 million in 2018 (Profit&, 2019).
Recent updates include the change from HTTP to HTTPS to strengthen viewers' privacy; offline playback feature; skip intro option; and alerts. The company now plans to enter the video gaming industry.
Netflix's success was brought by its ability to sustain and improve its operations, as well as, adapt to the changes in trends to fulfill customers' expectations.

There is a moment in our life where we are blissfully happy that we wish so hard for the time to stop and make it last forever. No matter how desperately we pray, nor long may it be, the dawn will break. In short, change will eventually come to everyone. We should never settle in one place, especially when just starting our journey. It is okay to stop by for a while, but in the end, we need to take another step forward to learn and try something new continuously, especially in a business where the trend never stays the same for too long. Change management is an approach wherein there is an implementation of changes in both internal and external processes. In other words, it is preparing everything for the change that is about to come, such as informing the employees, mapping down the necessary steps, and more. Also, there would be monitoring before the application of the change and during to make sure everything is running smoothly then after everything to see if there should be any adjustments that need to be done. The best example of change management would be Lego. Around 2003, the company faced hardship, especially when they came to a realization that physical products would not be ideal for the long term, and the advancement of the technology is not helping their case. In 2004, they were on the brink of bankruptcy, pushing them to decide it was time to take a risk and change something. They embraced technology and made it their ally to continue forward. They focus on connecting their products to virtual reality, and they even made a Lego movie back in 2014. Good day, Iris. I like how you start your introduction. It is really eye-catching, and wants me to read your works up to the end of it. I really like the part when you stated, " It shows that change is not something we should be afraid of but rather a situation we should face. One of the company that uses change management and project management that has been successful in improving their operation is Coca-Cola when bitter rivals Pepsi started to aggressively target Coca-Cola. In response, the latter released New Coke - a sweeter version of its classic drink. New Coke wasn’t a success and didn’t appeal to the public. Coca-Cola wasted no time in replacing it with the older formula. Here, the brand was able to respond quickly to consumer preferences so that the product’s appeal was maintained. It even stretches as far back as World War II. By offering free drinks to soldiers, Coca-Cola quickly marketed itself as a symbol of the US war effort. At the same time, it boosted brand recognition in destination countries that allied forces were occupying. During this process, Coca-Cola cemented its presence through 64 extra manufacturing sites across the world. This accelerated the company’s post-war global expansion strategy. These are just some of the change management examples which show how Coca-Cola manages to stay ahead of the curve. To respond to greater health consciousness, Coca-Cola released Enviga, Diet Coke and Coca-Cola Zero to appeal to this target market. Then during the Asian financial crisis, the organization pursued an acquisition strategy to better deal with consumer preferences. By reacting quickly and acting proactively in anticipation of changing trends, it is clear how change management is a vital component in Coca-Cola’s overall strategic vision. (Profit&, 2019)

When it comes to implementing a project or initiative, both change management and project management are crucial. By examining the size and timing of the change, the culture and value systems, and the flexibility and capacity to change. Each discipline provides the necessary structure for successfully implementing change and obtaining the desired outcomes. However, successful change requires collaboration between change management and project management.
ReplyDeleteAn example of successful change and project management is Airbnb Experiences. Airbnb is acknowledged as the largest booking platform for short-term accommodation. The platform is not limited to a particular market and is popular with both solo and group travelers. Airbnb is launching a new service to expand from 12 to 50 countries, providing guests with unique access to local communities and activities in their chosen locations. Airbnb Experiences required tens of thousands of creative assets from creators in 50 cities across the world in order to amplify. At the time, creative management was handled through an online spreadsheet that couldn't keep up with rapid updates, multiple users, precise handoff criteria, and the vast amount of content. In order for the company to achieve its objective, the team needed a system that could manage large amounts of data, track updates in real-time, and enable collaboration, thus hiring a third party which is Wrike could help them overcome the problem. Having a solid project communication plan in place ensures that everyone is working towards the same goal, allowing services like Airbnb Experiences to scale effectively.

"Change is inevitable." This popular saying applies to all aspects of our lives. We change because there is a need to do so, most likely in order to improve and grow. This holds true for business operations as well. Business operations were frequently challenged by irregularities and failures. Change and project management are being used to do things that will be effective for the operation.
ReplyDeleteThe Association of Change Management Professionals defines change management as a deliberate set of activities that facilitate and support the success of individual and organizational change and the realization of its intended business results (Murdock, 2017). In other words, it is the process of changing processes to address emerging trends in the external environment as well as internal issues confronting the business.
Netflix is one example of a company that has survived and thrived through change management and project management. Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph founded it in California in 1997. Netflix began by renting boxed products through a mail service in the United States. Through the years, their streaming service changed the way millions of people spent their free time. Netflix remains the market leader, serving 125 million customers and generating 11.7 billion in revenue in 2017. (Oomen, n.d.). If Netflix had continued to distribute fragile physical discs in envelopes, its expansion would have been restricted by external variables such as the capacities of the US postal service, the lifespan of the DVD format, and its physical inventory (Conrad, 2018). Netflix is an example of a business that has successfully switched its business model multiple times and grown substantially as a result of change management and project management.
We live in a digital age where digital transformation is happening in almost every business right now, and customers want a future that is filled with it. Netflix is a great success because it completely understands what its customers want. The company is willing to embrace change and is brave enough to continue transforming its business strategy to achieve success.

As per Murdock (2017), Change Management and Project Management are business tools as strategies and plans to achieve its goals.
ReplyDeleteChange Management focuses on changes, transitions, and shifting that is essential in reshaping a business organization. It is implemented to cope with the fast-changing environment that we are currently living in. On the other hand, Project Management sheds light on the successful execution of a project planning, execution, and control. It plays a vital role in organizational performance as a whole. Both are a huge help in achieving the maximum optimal performance of a company that is vital to success.
Some of the companies that are using change management and project management are as follows: (Profit&, 2019)
1. Netflix. A ubiquitous platform that showcases numerable movies, series, TV shows, and documentaries worldwide. It adopted change management as it caters to consumers that are fond of watching online. The shift from DVDs to streaming online was the reason behind the change of Netflix. As they shifted their gears, they began to be wide-known and cope with the digital nature of today’s time.
2. Domino's Pizza. In every field, there will always be competition. In this case, Pizza Hut is one of the major competitors of Domino's Pizza. They regained their image through digital transformation. Domino’s Pizza used digital technologies such as different modes to order a pizza. They took advantage of creating special promotions to increase their sales.
3. Coca-Cola. As we all know, Coca-Cola implements different strategies to appeal to the public. They are eager in formulating new ways to respond to consumers’ preferences. As a response to their target market, they even launched Enviga, Diet Coke, and Coca-Cola Zero.
Overall, it is important to be fond of changes to be globally competitive. It is important to stay ahead of change. Companies should stay innovative, flexible, and goal-driven to achieve success in their ventures.

Change management is a systematic approach to dealing with the transition or transformation of an organization's goals, processes or technologies. The purpose of change management is to implement strategies for effecting change, controlling change and helping people to adapt to change. Such strategies include having a structured procedure for requesting a change, as well as mechanisms for responding to requests and following them up.
ReplyDeleteTo be effective, the change management process must take into consideration how an adjustment or replacement will impact processes, systems, and employees within the organization. There must be a process for planning and testing change, a process for communicating change, a process for scheduling and implementing change, a process for documenting change and a process for evaluating its effects. Documentation is a critical component of change management, not only to maintain an audit trail should a rollback become necessary but also to ensure compliance with internal and external controls, including regulatory compliance.
Perhaps no organisation has been through change management challenges quite like the Coca-Cola Company. One example is from the 1980s when bitter rivals Pepsi started to aggressively target Coca-Cola. In response, the latter released New Coke - a sweeter version of its classic drink. Heraclitus states that change is the only constant thing in this world. Every business must adapt to change as globalization, market condition, advancement of technology, arising of competition, and consumer demand continuously evolves, They must restructure their company model on a frequent basis. Change management is the use of a known standard and set of tools to drive the human side of change to a desirable outcome. (McCallister)
ReplyDeleteAside from Nokia, yahoo, google, and Coca-Cola, another example of change and project management is Netflix, one of the most use streaming platforms as of today. Netflix is a subscription-based streaming service that allows our users to view TV episodes and movies on an internet-connected device without ads.
According to Kobiruzzaman, Netflix is one of the best examples of organizational change. It accepts the changes to cope with the new context. Netflix organizational change is a real-life example of Lewin’s change management model. It started as a DVD rental back then and is now a top video content creator. As it is a pioneer in the field of innovation and as additional aspects are added to its offering, the corporation is still seeking methods to outgrow its competitors. Every organizational change has a few stages of completing the entire process. Such implementation systems need to be rebuilt by developing more enhanced strategy and techniques . The most significant factors are technology, culture, and environment that stimulate an organization to accept the change. The business model strategy of Netflix provides it can actually make their product boost its sales and promotion

One example of company that has uses change management is Nokia. It was enjoying its success before smartphones hit the mainstream market. However, the company's stock dropped and it incurred ginormous amount of operational losses in the first half of 2012. What's the issue? Their strategic planning has a fundamental flaw. In the early years of the twenty-first century, the corporation enjoyed a very strong performance. It was a market leader in a variety of markets. This achievement resulted in a break in the company's strategy. When consumer requirements began to change, the corporation failed to recognize or respond. As a result, momentum and market leadership in all market categories were lost. Nokia realized it had squandered an opportunity to lead the smartphone revolution. The company then engaged a new CEO and set out on a path to redefine itself. Following the sale of its mobile device sector, Nokia shifted its attention to data networking services and telecommunications equipment via its subsidiary Nokia Networks. As of 2020, Nokia's Networks Business is the company's most profitable division. In 2008, Nokia launched the Booster Program, which assisted the firm in matching the ever-changing goals of its consumers, as well as new technology among rivals. Nokia also acquired Siemens and Alcatel-Lucent. As a result, Nokia's shareholder value increased by billions, and the company became a full-service infrastructure supplier. Nokia's incredible transformation from a near-bankrupt hardware maker to a dominant technology company demonstrates how large organizations may adapt to severe upheavals by reinventing themselves.

“Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.” It was once said by the famous playwright and author George Bernard Shaw. It applies to running a business in a way that no business, whether successful or not, should stay in a single place but must continue to aim to move forward. When an organization implements a change through a project or initiative, the disciplines of change management and project management can work together to make it successful. As change must be effectively managed on both a people, the focus of change management, and a technical, the focus of project management, level.
ReplyDeleteDomino’s Pizza has a story to tell on how they successfully reinvent their brand through the use of change management and project management. The scale of the changes needed to be started in 2008 as it was followed by a period of turmoil, two years before Patrick Doyle took over as CEO in 2010. The company's growth was slow, and its stock price was stuck at an all-time low of $8.76 per share. They began the initiative by reminding themselves of the nature of their firm. Domino's is not only in the pizza-making business but also in the pizza-delivery industry, which implies it must be in the technology business. Doyle and his colleagues were able to persuade top management to join on board with digital transformation. They collaborated with crowd-sourced auto designers to construct the DXP, a new custom Chevrolet Spark with just one seat and a warming oven that can hold 80 pizzas. And alongside the development of delivery and transportation, they also have to improve their products. The pizzas matter too and it had bad reviews. They also introduced the matter of creating loyalty programs and presenting unique deals to keep sales going up. In just a short period of time, Domino’s Pizza was able to turn things around. The company was able to get back on track in 2012, due to the effective implementation of change management and project management. And even though it brought them huge success, it did not stop there as they continued to grow and advance. Domino's Pizza is now the world's second-largest pizza business, with over 12,500 stores in more than 80 countries, and a stock price reaching $160.

Hi Danielle!
ReplyDeleteIndeed, technology is a factor why businesses change. With the advancement of technology, companies really had to change so that they would not be left behind. Netflix is really an example of change management. And with the success of Netflix today, it is apparent that they have successfully implemented the change in their organization. Also, I love how you enumerated the changes that Netflix had to go through.
It's a 10/1.0 for me.
- Gesta, Charlotte G. (2019-100594)
One thing that we cannot escape is change and transformation, which are always bound to happen. In reality, nothing progress in this world without going through substantial changes. We, humans, are accustomed to the developments and transitions around us. We experience different alterations in ourselves, our surroundings, and the people encircling us. At some point, we might be overwhelmed by these changes and won't know how to cope and deal with them. Yet, if seen from a different perspective, change might give us the improvement that we always picture.
ReplyDeleteAs change is persistent, humans won't maturely grow if they cannot adapt to phenomena, just like how an organization fails. In consequence of a changing world, an organization needs to adjust and improvise fully; to flourish, they need to accommodate brand new processes. It might be challenging for an organization to maximize their employees and resources when undergoing a massive adjustment; hence, change management is a discipline that supports people in converting from one situation to another. This engagement promotes the initiative to accordingly act when a scope is needed to be broadened so that organizations can attain their goals and objectives.
As an illustration, an organization embracing change management is like a traveler with excess baggage. To ride the designated plane, he needs to get rid of some things from his luggage. If the traveler was you, would you get rid of necessary items like your clothes perhaps? Indeed, you wouldn't. You would choose to get rid of things that are of no importance, wouldn't you? Hence, in pulling off change management, an organization is in a dilemma of releasing mediocrity employees and unnecessary processes as if they were the traveler trying to get into his plane. As more complex as it seems, a handful of organizations have successfully carried out this approach, which would include the American subscription streaming service and production company Netflix.
Netflix did a major restructuring and rebranding before it reached the high point. They kept employees with skills significant to the organization. They went from home delivery of DVDs to producing original video content to global subscribers. At first, the success projected was not as elevated as they assumed it would be, yet, having it seen as one of the most patronized in today's generation proves that change is undoubtedly frightening, but once triumph is in our hands, every sacrifice is worthwhile.

ReplyDeleteWe've all heard the phrase "nothing is permanent except change," and we can't deny that it's true. Change is unavoidable, whether in your personal life or in your professional life. We can't dispute that change is a necessary component of running a business. Because businesses need to grow and evolve to become more successful. Creating and executing new change management and project management in a business, on the other hand, is extremely difficult. The process of change management and project management necessitates careful preparation and skilled staff. It is critical that change and project management processes run effectively and efficiently. The major goal of implementing change management and project management, whether simple or complex, is to ensure that the business is moving closer to its objectives, that stakeholders are working toward a similar goal, and that the firm as a whole is progressing (Indeed Editorial Team, 2021).
One of the renowned companies in the world that implements successful change management and project management is the Domino's Pizza. Domino's Pizza has made a remarkable comeback. Domino's Pizza was having trouble competing with Pizza Hut and Papa John's in 2008 (Profit&, 2019). Despite the efforts made to preserve a positive brand image, the company's troubles made this a significant difficulty. Domino's Pizza was in crisis, as its stock had plummeted to an all-time low. But Domino's Pizza was able to get back on its feet in 2012, thanks to a successful change management and project management implementation (Profit&, 2019). Executives made some critical improvements that helped turn the company around. These are: (1) reinventing their products, (2) using savvy marketing, (3) creative ordering methods, and (4) innovative technology. As a result of these changes, Domino's Pizza has surpassed Pizza Hut in sales for the first time. Hundreds of new branches are being opened, and profits are on the rise (Lutz, 2015).

DeleteSince the company released a new pizza recipe in 2009, sales at Domino's Pizza have risen (Lutz, 2015). For the business to turn around, it needed a better core product. Sandwiches, pastas, and side dishes at Domino's Pizza have all been updated. The "specialty chicken" strips topped with cheese and sauces, which are often ordered alongside pizzas, are helping Domino's to outperform competitors like Pizza Hut and Papa John's.
To complement the opportunity, the brand adopted new technologies (Profit&, 2019). The DXP, a new custom delivery truck with a heating oven, was created, and despite just 150 being on the road at the time, it served as a form of advertisement. To match consumer demand, the brand increased its digital operations as well. Text messaging, Alexa, Google Home, Twitter, Facebook, and Smart TVs are all used by customers to order pizza. Through its own operating system, Domino's was able to take advantage of a lot of consumer data (Profit&, 2019). This helps Domino's keep transaction costs down while also providing information about their clients. Then there's the matter of creating loyalty programs and presenting unique deals to keep sales going up. Despite the transformation's success, it isn't over yet. The company has also experimented with drone and robot deliveries, as well as collaborating with Ford on self-driving vehicles (Profit&, 2019).

Both project management and change management seek to increase the probability that projects or industries will produce the desired results and outcomes. Although each discipline can function independently, integrating change management and project management to create a unified approach to implementing change on both fronts is the most effective approach.
ReplyDeletePerhaps no company has faced as many change managements challenges as the Coca-Cola Company. One example from the 1980s was when Pepsi began aggressively targeting Coca-Cola. During this process, Coca-Cola cemented its presence through 64 extra manufacturing sites around the world. According to insights.profitand.com
The company’s post-war global expansion strategy is accelerated. These are just some of the change management examples which show how Coca-Cola manages to stay ahead of the curve. To respond to greater health consciousness, Coca-Cola released Enviga, Diet Coke, and Coca-Cola Zero to appeal to this target market. Then during the Asian financial crisis, the organization pursued an acquisition strategy to better deal with consumer preferences. By reacting quickly and acting proactively in anticipation of changing trends, it’s clear how change management is a vital component in Coca-Cola’s overall strategic vision.

Change management is the solution to this sticky problem. Successful change management relies on four core principles: understand change, plan change, implement change, and communicate change (Grabillo, 2021). Domino's Pizza, for example, was struggling after its stock hit an all-time low in 2008. In order to compete with other popular pizza brands, Domino's Pizza increased its sales through clever marketing, innovative ordering methods, and cutting-edge technology. In order to meet consumer demand, the brand increased its digital efforts. They used text messages, Alexa, Google Home, Twitter, Facebook, and Smart TVs to make ordering their products as convenient as possible for their customers. As a result, Domino's tapped into a wealth of consumer data via its custom operating system. This reduced their transaction costs while also providing customer information.
ReplyDeleteDomino's Pizza's success was aided by change management, which enabled the company to adapt to and accept new methods of working. Domino's began by evaluating what the problem was, whether there was a need for change, and what the advantages of these changes would be by analyzing the processes of change management. Following that, they execute changes among their staff through effective marketing and the establishment of delivery trucks, while also prioritizing the wants of their customers through digital transactions. Finally, they effectively express their project vision and strategy in order to bring it to life and visualize the intended outcome. Communication is the key, according to the video by Accounting Made Easy (2021), and it is not only applicable for their firm, as communication through technology drives Domino's Pizza's success, which is still present today. Being open and honest with your team, as well as making decisions, is required for effective communication.

ReplyDeleteAs others have said, change is unavoidable, and adaptation is the only way for a firm to succeed, especially in today's world when technology is always improving and evolving, as do customers' preferences and choices. As a result, business management should be improved, or else the company would be left behind in the industry and outcompeted if management did not reform. In this regard, Coca-cola is an excellent example of a firm that employs change management and project management. The launch of New Coke was a flop, since it did not appeal to the general public, Coca-Cola rapidly reverted to the previous recipe. To maintain the product's appeal, the brand was able to quickly adapt to consumer preferences. According to an article of priftand, It all began during World War II, when Coca-Cola quickly became a symbol of the American war effort by providing free refreshments to soldiers. It also increased brand recognition in allied-occupied destination countries. During this time, Coca-Cola expanded its global footprint by opening 64 new manufacturing facilities. Obviously, these are just a few of the change management examples that demonstrate how Coca-Cola stays ahead of the competition. Coca-Cola created Enviga, Diet Coke, Coca-Cola Zero, and Coca-Cola Light to appeal to this target group in response to increased health consciousness. The organization then followed an acquisition strategy to better deal with customer preferences during the Asian financial crisis. Indeed, change management is a critical component of Coca-overall Cola's strategic vision since it allows the company to adapt fast and act proactively in anticipation of shifting trends.

DeleteIn today's environment, organizational changes are unavoidable, and they've become a critical component in adapting to the marketplace's ever-changing dynamics. Whatever business a firm is in, its goals are the same, but the execution and management of methods must improve in order to be competitive. If the company wants to succeed, it must remain innovative, anticipate the future, and seize opportunities as they emerge. In order to successfully implement the change management, the organization must be able to see around corners, stay ahead of change, and make better-informed judgments.

Change management and project management both strive to make it more likely that projects or initiatives will produce the desired results and outcomes. Both produce a unified approach to an implementing change on both fronts is the most effective approach. One of the companies that utilized this is the Coca-Cola Company. In 1980’s the Coca-Cola’s bitter rival was Pepsi and it started to aggressively compete the Coca-Cola. The Coca-Cola reacts by releasing new coke which is way more sweater than the classic version. Sadly, it was not appealing to the public and the brand responds quickly by replacing it again with the old formula. Then the brand offers free drink to soldiers and marked itself as a symbol of the US war. It increased its brand sales and recognition because of the soldiers who are in destination areas in other countries. It makes the Coca-Cola reach its 64 new manufacturing facilities. It's apparent that change management is a critical component of Coca-Cola's strategic vision since it allows the company to react fast and act proactively in anticipation of changing trends. Now the Coca-Cola takes an active part in innovating continuously their products that aligns with the new trend or the market’s demand such as producing Diet Coke and Coca-Cola Zero. You can execute successful change management at scale by connecting your internal teams and having the ability to see through edges, stay ahead of change, and make better-informed decisions.

Change management refers to the activities which facilitate and support the success of any organizational change (Murdock, 2017). Any programs about change management should first identify any certain potential problem areas, to address the needs of every employees in an organization and bridge the gap between executive's aspiration and those people who have been affected by change. Company's like Nokia and Coca Cola are two of the examples of real-life successful organizations that uses change management programs.
ReplyDelete*Nokia - It was enjoying the success they have achieved, as it had claimed 40% of the market share in 2007 before the invention and entering of smartphones in any mainstream market. However, five years later, the shares plummeted as the company reports operating losses in the first half of the year 2012. They realized that Nokia missed the opportunity to led the revolution of smartphones. Then, hired a new Chief Executive Officer and embarked on a journey to reinvent itself. The concentration shifted to network and mapping technologies, after selling its struggling mobile device division to fellow giant Microsoft. In 2008, Nokia introduced and offered a Booster Programme that helped the company to match and satisfy the ever-changing aspirations of their customers, as well as new technologies among competitors. They also purchased Siemens and then Alcatel-Lucent which resulted to gained billions in shareholder value and it became a full-service infrastructure provider. Nokia’s amazing transformation from a borderline bankrupt hardware manufacturer to leading technology players shows how major organisations can respond to serious disruptions by transforming themselves.
*Coca Cola - It released New Coke - a sweeter version of its classic drink to respond on its rival, Pepsi, which aggressively targeted the organization. This product wasn't a success and is not appealing to the public. It then replaces with their older formula which help the brand be able to respond quickly to consumer preferences so that the product’s appeal was maintained. It boosted brand recognition in destination countries that allied forces were occupying when World War II happened by offering drinks to soldiers. This accelerated the company’s post-war global expansion strategy. In addition, Coca-Cola released Enviga, Diet Coke and Coca-Cola Zero to respond to greater health consciousness. Then during the Asian financial crisis, the organisation pursued an acquisition strategy to better deal with consumer preferences. By reacting quickly and acting proactively in anticipation of changing trends, it’s clear how change management is a vital component in Coca-Cola’s overall strategic vision.

Dela Cruz, Joyce Ann N. (2019-105673)
People, processes, and the organization as a whole benefit from change management as a conceptual business framework. Change management increases the effectiveness of critical projects and initiatives while also improving the organization's ability to respond quickly. Any change management program must identify potential problem areas, address the needs of all employees, and, most importantly, bridge the gap between leadership goals and the people who will be affected by the change.
ReplyDeleteNetflix always has been a game changer, which has helped it innovate and adapt to the digital age. When the company implemented streaming in 2007, members no longer had to wait for DVDs to arrive in the mail. Netflix was able to implement change management procedures in a timely manner in order to meet the expectations of customers who would be viewing content online. It was once at a crossroads, with its long-term survival hinged on how well it handled the transition to a more digital future. Netflix's membership grew from 23 million in 2011 to over 137 million in 2018, despite a drop in subscriptions and stock market performance.
Coca-Cola is another example of an organization that has gone through change management. It all began in the 1980s, when Pepsi aggressively pursued Coca-Cola as a bitter competitor. As a result, the company released a new Coke that is a sweeter version of the original drink. The new Coke was a flop, and the general public did not like it. As a result, Coca-Cola quickly switched back to the old formula. In order to maintain the product's appeal, the brand was able to quickly adjust to align with the preferences and tastes of the customers. The organization's change management dates back to World War II, when they quickly established themselves as a symbol of the US war effort by providing soldiers with free refreshments. At the same time, the brand's reputation has improved. Coca-postwar Cola's global growth strategy was boosted as a result of this change in management. They've released Enviga, Diet Coke, and Coca Cola Zero to appeal to a wider audience in response to the rise in health concerns.

Hi, Mr. Villegas! I am happy to read your works. I never thought that Netlix had already been streaming since 2007. Those were the times that DVDs of Blue ray disc are still in used. I completely agree with you that Netflix was able to get along with changes and change management had helped them very much. Same so with Coca Cola, they really innovate their formula along with packaging. You nailed it!

Change is the constant behavior of the world, most specifically, mankind. It may change for the worst or the better. Regardless of whom the change was applied to, everything that is already in the circle of survival such as being and juridical beings needs to adopt immediately. That's why businesses transform themselves to cater to the needs of their customers and to effectively arrive with the new idea of reaching out, they have to manage the change. The task of managing change is called change management and here is my example of a company that has always been on wheels of change.
ReplyDeleteDo you frequently buy online? If yes, you must be familiar with Shopee. According to Linkedin (2021), Shopee is the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan. It started in Singapore in 2015 and had now expanded to reach Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, and the Philippines. I believed that the change management of the Sea Company - who launched Shopee is amazingly executed because currently they still planning of creating more brands in other countries because of patronization received from international users.
Shopee started as a consumer-to-consumer (C2C) marketplace but has now evolved to both C2C and Business-to-Consumer (B2C) or hybrid model (Wikipedia, 2021). It is also a website before but consequently becomes an application readily available on your phone. The terms and conditions of Shopee are all applied worldwide but the organization structure depends upon the country where it was launched. Given the example of the models of waybills, seller websites, and seller discounts. Products allowed by Shopee are also expanding along with its packaging. Before non-food items are being sold but nowadays, even food & food coupons are now allowed by Shopee. This transformation of services happened due to pandemics, especially, for countries under quarantine. Their mission and vision have been continuously changing due to environmental factors, and when it comes to project management, they do include in their plannings the dissemination of surveys to their Shopee buyers and sellers whenever they sense the need to improve. Because of these changes they have earned the trust of their customers.

Hi Shield! I was blown away by your study. To be honest, this is the first time I've heard a tale like this about a grooming goods firm. I was amazed on how the company respond with their certain health awareness issue. Well-informed! Excellent work.

ReplyDeleteGeneral Electric Company uses change management programs and soon considered its headquarters as the main force behind GE’s successes. Jack Welch, CEO of General Electric Company, assembled a team that was aligned in values, vision, and beliefs. Through Team training, it empowered its teams to grab all opportunities and to create inspirational strategic visions that would enlist their troops in the cause. He wanted them to incorporate innovation and growth into every aspect of their businesses, not just the process but also its people. In addition, the fundamental changes in GE’s internal machinery and substantially higher and much more focused R&D spending had greatly increased the flow of technology from GE’s laboratories. The growth imperative had been woven into core processes such as the annual strategic review and the annual HR review, when managers are assessed on their “growth values”—traits that GE had identified as necessary to create new businesses and expand into new markets. As a result, the business had accelerated its push into emerging markets, launched initiatives to revamp product development, and stepped up efforts to create new businesses. Managers were trying to alter their roles and behavior to foster growth. The company seemed to be making significant progress: GE’s revenues, exclusive of acquisitions, would increase by 9% in 2007, marking the third consecutive year the company had met or surpassed Immelt’s goal of growing organically at two or three times the pace of global GDP. Rapidly expanding activities in emerging markets would generate $33.4 billion in revenues in 2007, which would help push sales outside the United States to more than half of GE’s total for the first time.

In a world of hyper-competition and nonstop disruption, playing it safe is the riskiest course of all. Project management focuses on the tasks required to successfully design, develop and deliver the project, initiative or technical solution. Change management focuses on the people impacted by this change and enables them to engage, adopt and use the change, leading the people side of change to achieve a desired outcome. One company that used these two management control is the Domino’s Pizza. The scale of the changes at Domino’s are remarkable. Back in 2008, Domino’s Pizza was struggling as stock had hit an all-time low. Despite the importance the business had put on maintaining a positive brand image. In 2012, however, Domino’s Pizza was back on its feet due to a successful change management implementation. The organization’s pizza turnaround, thanks to digital transformation, rested on the fact that key transformation players managed to convince top management to get on board. Eventually, their enthusiasm trickled down throughout the entire business. Doyle, the Domino’s CEO emphasizes, “We are as much a tech company as we are a pizza company,” Domino’s leveraged the wealth of consumer data through its custom operating system. This helped keep the transaction costs low and provided Domino’s with insights about its customers. Then there’s also the case of developing loyalty programs and introducing special offers to continue to drive up sales. Doyle and his colleagues also worked to spice up the company’s image as well as its products. He also worked with crowd-sourced auto designers to create a Domino’s delivery car, the DXP.
